Make sure your anti-virus program is up to date and that you regularly scan your computer for viruses. There is a ton of information on the internet that contain detailed information about any dangerous viruses that can infect your computer.
Also make sure you verify any email that makes claims such as Microsoft paying people money for forwarding email or any of the other thousands of hoaxes or urban legends BEFORE mass mailing these emails to your friends or family.
